Simple and Delicious Apple Crumble

This apple crumble recipe has become my all-time favourite. It turns out so good every time I make it. The apples cook perfectly and the topping gets just crunchy enough.

Crumb Topping
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/3 cup butter

Apple Filling
3-4 large apples (preferably granny smith), peeled and sliced thin
3 Tbsp melted butter
2 Tbsp flour
1 Tbsp lemon juice
3 Tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch of salt

  1. Heat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine the crumb topping ingredients in a bowl with a fork until it has come together. To keep it’s form, place in the fridge until needed.
  3. Next is the apple filling. First, combine the melted butter and flour. Next, add in the lemon juice, milk and vanilla, mix together. Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Our this mixture over the apples and toss.
  4. Pour the entire apple mixture into an 8×8-inch baking dish and ensure that it is even.  Retrieve the crumb topping from the fridge and sprinkle evenly over the apples.
  5.  Bake for around 30-35 minutes, until it is golden brown.
  6. Enjoy!

*When making dairy free, just simply replace the milk and butter with alternatives.
